All-round care: Complete Chicken Menu (minced) from Barfgold

Barfgold's Complete Chicken Menu combines everything a balanced BARF bowl needs in a single meal. Tender chicken muscle meat forms the base, supplemented by meaty necks as a natural source of calcium, as well as liver, hearts, and gizzards for a varied supply of offal. Added to this is a colorful vegetable and fruit mix of carrots, parsnips, zucchini, salsify, broccoli, apple, and currant. Natural minerals from coconut flakes and Himalayan salt brine complete the recipe.

The menu is free of added herbs or additives, allowing maximum flexibility for individual supplementation. A dash of salmon oil, some coconut fat, or a dollop of butter can be easily incorporated.

We recommend this complete menu for BARF beginners as well as for dog owners who are looking for a ready-to-serve, balanced meal without much effort. Thanks to its easily digestible, minced form, it is also suitable for sensitive dogs.

The basis of a species-appropriate BARF diet is based on the structure of a prey animal and is divided into an animal portion of 80–90% and a plant-based portion of 10–20%. The daily total food amount for an adult dog is usually between 2% and 3% of body weight.

Within the animal components, half (50%) is lean meat, which serves as the main energy supplier. This is supplemented by 20% rumen or omasum, which provide important enzymes. The remaining 30% is equally divided into offal (as a source of vitamins and nutrients) and raw meaty bones (for calcium supply).

The plant-based portion, in turn, consists of 75% vegetables and 25% fruit. Since dogs cannot break down plant cell walls themselves, these components should always be pureed or lightly steamed for optimal utilization.

At the top of the pyramid are essential additives that round off the nutrient profile. The regular administration of high-quality oils (especially omega-3 oils such as salmon oil) and seaweed meal for iodine supply is indispensable. Depending on the needs, further supplements such as cod liver oil, eggs, or a pinch of salt can complete the feeding plan.
